Over £4,000 raised for Great North Air Ambulance Service

A charity golf day in Seascale, organised by the Mid Copeland GDF Community Partnership, raised over £4,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) on Saturday.

Over 140 golfers took part in the Texas Scramble competition at Seascale Golf Club.

All entry fees were donated to the life-saving charity which is not NHS-funded, but which brings pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene, rescuing hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year. In 2024/25 the charity attended 1,998 incidents and the daily operating cost of this vital service is £25,969.

The event was also a chance to catch up with the work of the Community Partnership and the GDF programme.

Sue Shepherd, NWS Community Engagement Co-ordinator, said: “The event was very successful with exceptional feedback on the day from the golfers. It enabled the Community Partnership to engage with new audiences, particularly people of working age. Thank you to all those who came along and supported the day and the vital work of the Great North Air Ambulance. Thanks also, of course, to Seascale Golf Club for hosting.”
